non-believer relatives & friends

Last night was another great CG meeting. Six turned up, but we opened our heart to pray for our relatives and friends yet to accept Jesus as their LORD and PERSONAL SAVIOUR. This was the immediate action we took to respond to Pastor Pau’s message, to cry out to God to save our beloved family members and close friends.

A non-Christian friend joint cell group for a year, but finally fed up and quitted due to the bad testimony of the group. His unpleasant experience led him not to believe in Christianity, even with great disappointment and hatred, he needed a long time to be healed, but i believe through prayer, God will listen to our cry, through our good testimony and power of God, he will come back to God one day.

We had a Christian relative married to a mamak, and converted to muslim. I feel burdened and with disappointment to hear a Christian converted to another religions. I always feel regretted to know God at my 30s, and yet other Christians discard their faith. This reminds me not to take for granted our next generation will follow our belief if we don’t love (not spoil) them, lead (be an good example) them, teach (patiently) them, show (clearly) them, walk along (experience sweet and bitter in life) with them….. This relative to one of our sisters said she had peace being a muslim. God, shows Your way to her….

Faith of a Christian friend had faded due to family chaotic situation, life problem, break-up in a relationship….. He finally indulged in drinking and clubbing to release his pain and sorrow. He was in a great distress and agony, and stopped going to church, thinking that he was great sinner, not worthy of God’s love. Who will listen to him? Ya, I surely know that God will listen to him if he cries out to God like Hagar did (Ge 21:16).

We had an open-minded Indian friend, who can accept all gods, may be due to her Hinduism background. She came from a family with broken relationship. Her relationship with her father was not so good. Our sister hoped to lead her to find the true living God. Only our God is the truth.

today’s politicians

The book of Esther ended with a model of a good politician, “Mordecai the Jew was second in rank to King Xerxes, preeminent among the Jews, and held in high esteem by his many fellow Jews, because he worked for the good of his people and spoke up for the welfare of all the Jews.” (Est 10:3). This verse prompted me to think of our country politicians today. Do they portray this characteristic, worked for the good of his people and spoke up for the welfare of his people? Yes, they did, but in the smaller scale, worked for the good of his “family” and spoke up for the welfare of his “family”. I wonder whether the righteous politicians are still available. For scripture says: “There is no one righteous, not even one” (Ro3:10). I think I would be not much different if I happen to be one of them in the future. My Lord, please have mercy upon me, if i still keep on blaming my country leaders, instead of praying for them. Grant me strength to pray more for them and complain less.

family altar

Abraham built altars at Shechem (Ge 12:6~7), the place between Bethel and Ai (Ge 12:8, 3~4) and Hebron (Ge 13:18). We can see Abraham really emphasized in building altar, put God first wherever he and his family went. Besides wealth, Abraham had inherited his faith to his descendants. Isaac and Jacob were like father like son, they built altar too.

I started my debut family altar on the following Saturday (14 June 2008), after Pastor Pau’s sermon and discussion in the cell group. Lock Hei and I had a simple start, we did the journaling together, which we had never done before. We studied Esther 4, we used A.C.T.I.O.N.S model to journal our sharing. It was a marvelous experience, our understanding to the passage was totally differently, our sharing had widened our view and knowledge to this passage. Hallelujah to God!

Family altar is one way to unite my family and to build the firm foundation of my family belief, so that i can inherit my belief to my next generation. I do not want to take for granted that my children will follow what i believe, unless I set a good example. Thus, it is important for me to set apart extra time for family altar, apart from my normal family time. I want my children to experience God along with me, not to pass my responsibility only to sunday school, youth fellowship or church.

Brothers and sisters and friends, take your first step by faith, we will experience the greatness of our God.

busyness vs cg

initially, busyness makes brothers and sisters coming late for the gathering, but at least they come. now busyness even draws them back from the cell meeting, they just disappear. 2 turned up last night, together with me and my wife, though only four of us, God still worked wonderfully in our meeting. I did the one-man show, led the singspiration (sang song and played piano), prayer and bible study. I realized that it’s never easy to become a leader and i have to be ever ready in the meeting.

many times, people tells me number is not a matter, quality of the gathering means everything. but i think, number is a boost to encourage and move the group to grow, and the quality brings us closer to God. both of them are equally important to a LEADER. that’s why we need team work. everyone accomplishes a task each is always better than a very capable man who accomplishes all tasks. i think, here, number really means a lot.

For gathering last night, i felt disappointed, however i thank GOD, because of HIM, i was never be discouraged. moreover, GOD wants me to be strong and courageous to take up this challenge. I know HE will bless those who obey and trust HIM with success and prosperous (Joshua 1:8), one day. Wait patiently and behold…

Brothers and sisters, an encouraging verse for you to ponder, “24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. 25 Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” (Hebrews 10:24-25) Hopefully we can all treasure the time in this cell group, in unity and love.

God loves you all.

prayer meeting

last night was our group debut leading for thursday prayer meeting. it was a good experience. thanks God for His guidance. also thousand thanks to my cell members who are really putting their efforts and praying hard for the prayer meeting.

i feel great too for offering my very first piano presentation to my God, though for me it was not the perfect one, i know God sees my heart. i am not a skillful pianist, but i love to play, play for myself, play for my wife and daughter. i never think of to offer it to my God. i thank God for giving me this opportunity. hopefully there will more chances to offer to HIM.
